Choosing an exchange
What’s the best crypto exchange for beginners?
For US beginners, Coinbase is usually the easiest place to start. Kraken and Gemini are strong alternatives with lower fees on their advanced trading screens. See our full ranking.
Which crypto exchange has the lowest fees?
Fees depend on how you trade. Advanced trading screens (like Kraken Pro or Coinbase Advanced) are much cheaper than instant “simple” buys. Always check spreads and withdrawal fees too.
Is my crypto safe on an exchange?
Large, regulated exchanges invest heavily in security, but your crypto isn’t protected like a bank deposit. Turn on two-factor authentication, and move long-term holdings to a hardware wallet.
Can US residents use Binance or KuCoin?
No. US residents should use Binance.US or US-regulated exchanges such as Coinbase, Kraken or Gemini instead.
